Investing Wisely: Mental Health Expansion
Mental health and physical health are both important parts of overall health and wellness. Keeping a healthy mind is often not as simple as finding joy or happiness. Often, medical help is needed.
Thousands of Ohioans are living with a mental health condition. As a Patient-Centered Medical Home, North Coast Health treats the whole individual – mind and body – to ensure that each patient can work towards optimal health. Through monies first raised at Celebration of Caring 2015 Fund-a-Need, we have been able to expand our behavioral health counseling through the hire of a part-time Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervision Designation (LPCC-S).
In the past, North Coast Health has been able to offer our uninsured patients counseling services through a social worker. The addition of a LPCC-S allows us to not only expand to full counseling and offer appointments to both the uninsured and insured, but also to accept master’s candidate counseling intern students to expand our capacity. North Coast Health has been able to “multiply” the dollars raised to provide more accessibility and services to ensure we are able to treat both mind and body in the same setting.
As a result of your support, North Coast Health is meeting a community need by removing barriers; making it possible for individuals to access needed mental health services; making it possible for us to care for the whole person.
